The Selfish Giant: A Participation Musical for KS1 and KS2

This wonderful production is one of a series of participation musicals created by Image Musical Theatre for Key Stage 1 and 2. The show itself is preceded by a rehearsal workshop where some of the children are chosen to take part in the show while the remainder of the audience are rehearsed into four chorus songs. Image Musical Theatre has an excellent reputation for producing work that is stimulating and entertaining while maintaining very high production values.

Oscar Wilde’s short story ‘The Selfish Giant’ is a beautiful and moving tale. By sharing the experience of the giant’s selfishness, a moment of realisation and finally his redemption, children and adults alike are reminded of the value of generosity. The show includes the participation of a dozen children who play the villagers and the whole audience who take part as chorus singers. With beautiful period costumes, an ingenious set and wonderful music from Robert Hyman, this production will continue Image Musical Theatre’s tradition of providing the very best touring theatre.

The Selfish Giant is a literacy treat for the whole school to enjoy watching together in your school hall, with no fuss (no buses!), very professional and great value for money (£395+vat).

Rehearsal / Workshop 30 mins — Interval — Performance 1 hour.

Great to see students being given the opportunity to engage in theatre and the arts!

Sword in the Stone – new for 2014!

We are proud to announce Image Theatre’s brand new participatory show for primary schools – ‘The Sword in the Stone’, written and directed by their new artistic director, Ian McCracken.

This interactive musical based on the mystical story of ‘The Sword in the Stone’ follows the life of Arthur, a young squire destined to become King. Guided by Merlin he has many adventures culminating in him successfully pulling the sword from the stone and unwittingly fulfilling the legend’s prophecy.

We have had some fabulous reviews of this show so far and teachers have loved the themes of kindness, compassion, bravery and (to quote from their song), the focus on ‘learning every single day’, ‘you can do things if you try’ and ‘believe in yourself’.

With beautiful medieval costumes, state of the art sets, magical puppets and wonderful music by Robert Hyman this wholesome show will continue Image’s tradition of providing the best touring theatre for primary schools.

The show requires the participation of the whole audience as the chorus and ten children to play small parts.

They are touring throughout 2014 in the following areas:

North London
Cheshire, Flintshire, Wrexham
Essex
Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire

Please call our team on 0161 2361448 for more details.
